Privacy policy
This policy explains how SKIP THRU LLC (“Skip Thru,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Skip Thru customer app, the Skip Thru merchant app, and skipthru.com (together, the “Services”).
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password. Restaurants using the merchant app also provide business details such as the restaurant's name, address, hours, and menu.
Order information. The items you order, the restaurant, order times, order status, and any notes you add.
Location. When you tap “On my way,” we use your device's location to estimate your arrival time and share that estimate with the restaurant preparing your order. We only use location for an active pickup, and you can turn off location access in your device settings at any time, though arrival estimates won't work without it.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we don't receive or store your full card number. We receive limited information from Stripe such as the payment status, amount, and the last four digits of your card. Restaurants that receive payouts provide their banking details directly to Stripe.
Device information. We collect a push notification token so we can send you order updates, along with basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and error logs.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account
- To process orders and payments and send them to the right restaurant
- To estimate your arrival time and let the restaurant prepare your order on time
- To send order updates and service messages
- To provide support and respond to your requests
- To prevent fraud, keep the Services secure, and fix problems
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations
How we share information
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We share information only as follows:
- With the restaurant you order from: your name, order details, and estimated arrival time, so they can prepare and hand off your order.
- With service providers who run parts of the Services for us: Amazon Web Services (hosting, data storage, and sign-in), Stripe (payments), Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications and Google Maps for arrival estimates), and Apple (push notifications on iOS). They may use information only to provide their services to us.
- For legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users, restaurants, or Skip Thru.
- In a business transfer: if Skip Thru is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
How long we keep information
We keep account information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and associated personal information, except order and payment records we must keep for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal reasons. See Delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- You can update your profile in the app.
- You can turn off location access and notifications in your device settings.
- You can delete your account in the app or by emailing us.
- You can ask us for a copy of your personal information or ask us to correct it by emailing support@skipthru.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws. We'll respond to verified requests as required by applicable law.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and managed authentication, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
The Services aren't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and notify you in the app or by email when appropriate.
